Goa, Nov 30: State government has challenged the anticipatory bail plea granted to former chief minister Digambar Kamat in Louis Berger bribery case before Supreme Court which would come up for hearing on December 8.

Crime Branch which is probing the multi crore bribery scandal has said that the custodial interrogation of former chief minister is required. The police had arrested several accused including former State Public Works Department minister Churchill Alemao in this case. Alemao is currently out on bail.

Laxmikant Parsekar-led government had also formed an expert committee to study the bid allotted for the US based Louis Berger company which was allotted work of augmenting water supply and laying of sewerage pipeline.

The committee has submitted a 1,000 pages report to the Crime Branch. The report has given graphic details about the involvement of each of the accused in this matter.

It is expected that the report would further strengthen the charges laid against various people by the Crime Branch during the investigations.
