Panaji, Aug 18:
Chief minister Digamber Kamat on Saturday August 18 directed the district administration to stop all the development works undergoing in the state under regional plan 2011, which stands scrapped.

"The deputy collectors have revoked licences issued under regional plan 2011 and have asked the respective panchayats to do the same,'' Kamat stated. He said that both the district collectors have been asked to stop such works immediately.

The chief minister's directives came a day after Goa Bachao Abhiyaan, an NGO fighting against regional plan 2011, warned the state government of public agitation. The NGO had cited that despite scrapping of regional plan 2011, the constructions, permitted under the controversial plan, were still going on in the state.

The controversial regional plan 2011 was scrapped by earlier Pratapsingh Rane government in February, last year. The public outrage against the controversial plan forced former town planning minister Atanasio Monserratte to resign as minister.

"There is no confusion in the mind of the government. This government's stand is very clear. If there are any conversions during regional plan 2011, same stand null and void as the RP stands cancelled,'' the chief minister said.

The chief minister said that the chief secretary will review the follow up of the directions on Monday August 20.
