Goa based author pens children's book

Goa, Nov 30: Prolific author, poet and motivational speaker Dinesh Patel has become the first Indian to release a children’s book in Iceland – Iceland Tales - Elves of Hafnarfjörður and other stories - on his second trip to the amazing island nation recently.

The author who experiments with different genres each time, now goes with the nom de plume Denis Phoenix.

Dinesh’s tenth book was released at the hands of the Indian Ambassador of Iceland Rajiv K Nagpal, who was all praise at the feat, at an informal meet. The Head of Chancery Sunil Agnihotri was also presented with a copy. The book was also released at various locations in Iceland including Reykjavik and Selfoss. The book was also informally promoted in Oslo and Kristiansand, Norway.

Dedicated to the warm people of Iceland, the children’s fiction that draws inspiration from the fascinating nation’s rich and warm affiliation to the elves and trolls also introduces the readers to various interesting aspects of Iceland.

The ten enchanting stories aim to appeal to the young and old with its unassuming elves and towering trolls, besides other mystical beings such as gnomes, pixies, mermaids, witches etc, while reflecting unusual landscapes, sprouting geysers, gliding glaciers, boiling thermal points and stretches of icy endlessness.

The book also highlights interesting pictures about various places that helped sprout stories from the depths of an imaginative mind.

Some of the interesting stories include Whispering Witches of Hekla, Troll Trýla’s Terrible Tale, Curse of Þingvallavatn, Why Reykjavik Ravens Rarely Lie, Wrath of Mystical Mermaid, The Boy who did not Believe in Elves, Sigurðurdottir Sisters’ Sensational Surge, Secret of Gulfoss Nymphs & Geysir Gnomes and Long Tale of Short Horses.

Dinesh, who has also released historical fiction, crime thriller, collection of poems, motivational books and children’s books (Goan Tales 1 and 2) is also the first in India to write a book on casinos. His earlier release was Images of Faith – SFX Saint of the East – Exposition and Churches of Old Goa.

Published by Dream Phoenix, the book is available with all leading bookstores, including Broadway, Panjim and Golden Heart Emporium, Margao.
