Manohar Parrikar speaks of retirement again

Goa, Nov 30: Union Defence Minister Manohar parrikar has spoken again about his retirement from active politics. The BjP leader who had rode the party to victory in 2012 goa assembly elections had said he might not contest 2017 polls and would rather join farming.

Parrikar on Sunday once again repeated his intentions to retire from politics ahead of his 60th birthday on December 13.

"After 60 (years), one has to think about retirement. I turn 60 on December 13, therefore, I had started thinking about retirement two-three years back. I have to intensify that, therefore, I don't feel inclined to take up big responsibilities," Parrikar was quoted as saying during a function in goa on Sunday.

The defence minister however assured that he would remain close to goa's politics He also raised question mark over the credible leadership in small state like goa.

"Finally, there is a question mark over the possibility of finding people with leadership qualities in a small state. But one thing I will say, my attention will be on Goa. And if the government in Goa goes on a wrong path, then I will bring it back on track. I can give this guarantee to Goans," he was quoted.

Current chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar who took the position of Parrikar after his posting in union cabinet has already announced that he would lead the party in 2017 goa assembly polls.
