Los Angeles, Nov 29 (IANS): Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence says her upcoming film “Joy” is a tribute to “women who are the unsung heroes of their households”.
The remarks by the actress came after simultaneous screenings of the film here and in New York on Saturday, reports variety.com.
Loosely based on the life of Joy Mangano, the inventor and entrepreneur behind the Miracle Mop and a string of other household products, the film stars Lawrence as the title character, a woman determined to forge her own way in life and business. “Joy” will release in the US on December 25.
Lawrence said that the character “had a fire and gift that she had buried for 17 years”.
She also paid a tribute to writer-director David O. Russell, saying she would do “anything with David until the day I die.”
The film also stars Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper.
