Puttur: SPPU College celebrates annual sports day

Puttur, Nov 25: Annual sports day celebrations of St Philomena Pre University College was held on November 21.






The assistant commissioner of Puttur Sathish Kumar D inaugurated the sports meet by hoisting the flag. He said, “Sports and games take a person’s life to a higher level.” He also urged the students to build a strong nation.

The chief guest Shakunthala Shetty, MLA of Puttur said, "We should respect women and every woman should make up their mind to come up in every field." The campus director Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, in his message said, "Every student must take part in all the curricular and extracurricular activities of the institution."

The correspondent of the college Fr Alfred J Pinto presided over the function. Prof Leo Noronha, principal of St Philomena College, Fr Rithesh Rodrigues, assistant professor of PG studies in commerce, Ozwald Rodrigues, headmaster of St Philomena High School, Partha Varanasi and Niroop, coachers of Balavana swimming pool were present on the occasion.

On the occasion MLA Shakunthala Shetty, assistant commissioner, Sathish Kumar D and Sports Secretary of the college Vaishnav Hegde were honoured by the dignitaries for their achievements in their respective fields.

Fr Vijay Lobo, principal of the college welcomed the gathering. Prakash D'Souza, physical education instructor proposed the vote of thanks. Prashanth Bhat P, lecturer, compered the programme.

In the closing ceremony, Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro participated as the chief guest and honoured the prize winners. Sowmyalatha K, physical education instructor proposed the vote of thanks. Usha Yashavanth A, lecturer compered the programme.
