New Goa Zuari Bridge gets coastal authority nod

Goa, Nov 25: The construction of a parallel bridge over Zuari river at Agassaim has finally got the sanction from Goa coastal zone management authority. The authority has given permission under Coastal Regulation Zone.

The foundation stone for the new bridge costing Rs 3,000 crore is planned to be laid on December 19, the day commemorated to celebrate Liberation of the Day from Portuguese rule.

GCZMA held a meeting on Monday to decide on the issue. The permission was granted under CRZ notification 1991. Union Minister for Road Transport and National Highway Nitin Gadkari will be present for the foundation laying.

State Public Works Department has already finalized a one-kilometer long alignment for the bridge. The entire project would be constructed in four phases.
