Goa, Nov 25: The Congress party has ruled out possibility of Mahagathbandhan in Goa on lines with Bihar during upcoming 2017 state legislative assembly polls.

The party which is a main opposition in state assembly has clarified that it would fight the upcoming polls on its own.

Congress' decision comes as a setback for the independent legislators including Vijay sardesai who were eyeing for anti-BJP alliance in the state.

AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh who was in goa to hold series of political meetings told reporters that the party will test the victory on its own in the coastal state.

Singh ridiculing the independent legislators said grand alliance can happen only with parties and not with independents.

The AICC leader held meeting with the local party leaders in Panaji. Sonia Gandhi led party is in the process of reviving itself in goa after humiliating defeat in 2012 polls.

Virtually taking against independent legislators like Rohan khaunte and Naresh Sawal who has joined hands with sardesai, Singh said the legislators need to be aggressive in the assembly and should not only make media statements.
