Goa, Nov 24: A Right Wing Hindu organization has taken objection to the portail of mastani in the upcoming flick ‘Bajirao Mastani” claiming, “Women from royal families do not dance by displaying such body language.”

Bajirao Mastani is an Indian historical romance film produced and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film narrates the story of the Maratha warrior - Peshwa Baji Rao I of the Maratha Empire and his second wife Mastani. The movie is slated to be released in December this year.

The movie has Ranveer Singh as Bajirao and Deepika Padakune as mastani.

“The history has been distorted through the trailer, teaser and the song 'Pinga Pinga' from the recently released film 'Bajirao-Mastani', directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In the song, Kashibai, the wife of Bajirao and Mastani are shown as dancing together,” HJS spokesman Ramesh Shinde has said in the statement released here.

“During the times of Peshwas, according to the tradition of the women from espected families, they did not dance by displaying such body language. The women from royal families such as Rajmata Jijau, Rani Lakshmibai, Tarabai, Rani Chennama etc assiduously followed this tradition,” he added.

They displayed valour by carrying swords and defeating enemies. However, Bhansali does not seem to have studied these royal traditions and relied solely on the traditions of Bollywood, wherein it is usual for them to make their own daughters dance and kiss the third persons. Let us hope that Bhansali's distortion of history due to inadequate information will not pass as freedom of expression.

“This act is nothing but getting rich by damaging the ideal family system during the rule of Peshwas. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is demanding by lodging a complaint with the Central Board of Film Certification and Department of Culture, Government of Bharat, that a ban should be imposed on the film 'Bajirao-Mastani' if the distortion of the history is not removed,” Shinde added.

Even the heirs of Peshwas have taken objection on the film by expressing their strong reactions, “This film is an attempt to malign the reputation of Bajirao Peshwa, Kashibai and Mastani. Is Bhansali aware of the language, dress code, decency and culture of the women during the Peshawas' times ?

The HJS has said, "The song 'Pinga Pinga' is added to make film box-office hit. It is very painful to watch queens from our respected families exposing their bodies.” Bajirao Peshwa is known in history as the only valiant king after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Bhansali made a despicable attempt to paint Bajirao, who won 21 battles without losing a single one during his career spanning 21 years, as a lover by limiting his role only with Mastani. In short, Bhansali has made fun of a renowned warrior of history through the film 'Bajirao-Mastani'. The social media is also criticising strongly and many people are writing letters to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti will launch nationwide agitation if the Government fails to take the cognisance of the matter.
