Panaji, Nov 24: Three independent legislators from Goa have announced their support to the new regional party which is likely to be launched on January 26 next year.

Vijay Sardessai (Fatorda), Rohan Khaunte (Porvorim) and Naresh Sawal (Bicholim) addressed a joint press conference in Panaji to claim that 'BJP-led combination in Goa can be defeated only by independent legislators'.

The legislators are getting set for the upcoming 2017 State Legislative Assembly election.

Sardesai said the regional party will have its presence in all the forty constituencies. “Third alternative may not involve too many sitting MLAs but would prefer to have common people with new faces with winnability factor,” he said.

The Fatorda legislator said: since the constitution of India was formed on January 26, the people will get good news on the same day. We will back the attempt to form the regional political party. Sardessai, however, clarified that he would not be directly part of the party.

What’s interesting is that Khaunte and Sawal who were present for the press conference had supported Manohar Parrikar led government but had later withdrawn it.
