Goa, Nov 24: The students of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) have claimed that they are under threat at the ongoing IFFI in the State’s capital city of Panaji.

FTII students were arrested by police after they protested at the venue. They are striking against appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as FTII chief.

FTII former student Prateek Vats said the students are not here to disrupt the event. “But last few days we are under trauma. We don’t know when police would act against us,” he said.

Vats said the students are participating in IFFI as a part of their academic activity and with no ulterior motive. He said they are worried of police attack during their scheduled FTII students film festival planned on November 24 and 25.

Goa’s politics in FTII issue
Goa’s independent legislator Vijay Sardessai and two other MLAs Rohan Khaunte and Naresh Sawal joined FTII students. Sardessai condemned the action of government against the students during IFFI.

Khaunte said being host, Goa has a responsibility to look into the safety of each of the students who are participating in the festival.
