Goa, Nov 24: State Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has said that the government is seriously considering linking Tillari irrigation water project to Valvonti river to tide over the water shortage faced in Anjunem dam, which is situated in North Eastern Sattari village.

“We are considering to pump in Tillari water in Valvonti river so that the water scarcity in Anjunem dam can be worked out,” Parsekar told reporters in Panaji on Monday.

Valvonti river which runs through Sankhalim village provides water to various farmers who are dependent on supply from Anjunem for their needs.

Water Scarcity in Anjunem Dam
The Anjunem dam which provides irrigational water to farmers in North has been facing shortage of water. Parsekar said the dam is not holding the substantial water due to rain shortfall that was witnessed this monsoon.

Tillari canal to be closed for maintenance
Parsekar said that the water supply from Tillari irrigation project would be shut down for few days in order to carry out the maintenance work. This shut down is a genuine one as the canals need annual maintenance, he said.
