Udupi, Nov 19: Yuva Congress committee members of the constituency on Wednesday November 18 staged a protest against the central government in front of Clock tower, here condemning the price hike and anti-public policy.
Congress leader Amrit Shenoy said, "Indians had lots of expectations about Narendra Modi at the Central government. That is why people have given him a chance to rule. But now the people are getting to know him better. There is uncertainty as to whether he will get majority votes in the upcoming elections.
The prime minister has spoken about 'acche din', but that is nowhere to be seen in the nation. The prices of vegetables and cereals have skyrocketed.
People have freedom of expression and religion. Any person can farm his own land, but Modi is imposing restrictions on all these things.
"Innocent voters get cheated by his colourful speech. Modi has illusions of becoming a global leader. The Bihar elections have proved him wrong," criticized Amrit Shenoy.
He also added, exploitation on dalits, moral policing and violence still continue to occur without a break. Inhuman activities are taking place everywhere in the name of caste and religion. He does not respond to tackling even small obstacles.
"MP Shobha Karandlaje took the oath for maintaining peace and human rights with tear filled eyes. Ironically she visits her own constituency just once in a while," complained Shenoy.
Vikas Shetty, president Yuva Congress said that Modi needs to clarify his objectives and goals.
He criticized Udupi MP for being just a guest to the Udupians and provoking communal conflicts. The present youth need employment, but BJP focuses on their own self interests instead of the nation's development.
CMC president P Yuvraj, Congress leader Janardhan Bhandarkar and others were present.
