Mangaluru, Nov 19: Police personnel from Kavoor station here have succeeded in cracking a robbery case which happened in the city limits during July this year. In this incident, two men had approached a house when a woman was alone at the government residential colony at Bondel at night in the guise of seeking drinking water, and robbed her of her ornaments.
One of the two robbery-accused, Taranath, had been arrested by the police personnel sometime after the robbery. Ravi (41) had managed to evade arrest. The court had even issued arrest warrant agaomst him.
The Kavoor police, after getting information that Ravi was hiding in the house of his lover at Ishwaramangala in Puttur taluk, went there and took him into custody. He was later produced in the court. The policemen said that Ravi faces several cases including the one in which he had escaped from Chikkamagaluru jail in 2001, theft of jeep, robbery of jewellery shop at Gangavathi, robbery of jewellery shop at Manipal, theft of motor bike at Panambur in which he was convicted, etc.
In the recent past, he had started to reside in Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) Colony in Kavoor here. He had thereafter been arrested relating to theft in the house of Ramdas Pai in KHB Colony. He was granted bail when in judicial custody, during which period he gave an interview to a television channel in which he heaped false allegations against the police, it is gathered.
Kavoor police inspector, M A Nataraj, sub-inspector, Umesh Kumar M N, and other policemen were involved with the above arrest.
