Ajman, Nov 18: The department of cardiology at GMC Hospital in association with Gulf Medical University (GMU), the leading private medical university in the region owned and operated by Thumbay Group, conducted its 4th annual conference on ‘New horizons in cardiology – from guidelines to clinical practice’ at the university campus, Al Jurf, Ajman on Friday November 13. The conference was organized by the health communications division of Thumbay Group.
The conference, which was accredited by the Ministry of Health for 7 CME hours was attended by a number of healthcare professionals. The conference dealt with various topics in cardiology, such as heart failure with preserved ejection fraction - A clinical dilemma, updates on primary PCI, The crucial role of emerging imaging modalities in chest pain units for diagnosing CAD, evolving the role of echocardiography in sepsis, current updates on cardiac rehabilitation guidelines, updates on sudden cardiac death in athletes and young generation and case presentation and guidance on management.
Speakers at the conference included eminent doctors such as Dr Mohamed Fathi (specialist in cardiology, GMC Hospital, Gulf Medical University), Dr Mahmoud Farouk (specialist intervention cardiologist, GMC Hospital & Research Centre, Ajman), Dr Kumaraguruparan Gopal (assistant professor, College of Allied Health Sciences- PT), Dr Tamer Taha Ismail Taha (specialist, Department of Cardiology Thumbay Hospital) and Dr Ehab M Esheiba (clinical assistant professor and head of cardiology department, GMC Hospital & Research Centre, Ajman).
