Puttur, Nov 18: Cine actor, Vinod Alva, who is facing a case of attempting to murder his former accountant by arranging to knock the latter with a jeep, was remanded to 14 days judicial custody on being produced in the court here on Tuesday November 17.
Alva had been produced before the judge on Monday night by the police personnel of rural station here. The judge had ordered him to be remanded to judicial custody for a day, duly instructing the police to produce him again in the court the next day for further orders.
The court, in the meanwhile, declined to entertain the request made by the police to hand him over to police custody of three days to enable them to investigate the case further. At the same time, the court also rejected the interim bail application moved by the advocates for the accused. The judge gave the final decision in the evening after hearing arguments and counter arguments placed by the advocates for the accused and the assistant public prosecutor.
Thereafter the advocates for Alva moved an application seeking interim bail, in the fifth additional district sessions court in the town.
