Bengaluru, Nov 17: Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday November 14 laid the foundation stone for 'Beary Souharda Bhavana' which will come up at an estimated cost of Rs 12 crore, funded by Beary’s Welfare Association here in the city. The chief minister promised that the government would provide financial grants for Bhavana.
In his address, Siddaramaiah asked people not to become victims of hate politics. "The country is going through an identity crisis. Peace is at stake. Petty issues are being used to create enmity among people and ultimately religion is used for political gains," he said.
"Beary community and Beary language have a rich heritage and the Beary community is peace loving and hard working. The word Beary means business man which is derived from Tulu. It is appropriate to have named the proposed building as Beary Souharda Bhavana which means Amity House since the harmony and amity among the people is fast detoriating," he said.
Former minister B A Mohideen said doors of Beary Souharda Bhavana are open to people of all religions and sections.
President of Beary Souharda Bhavana building committee Syed Mohammed Beary gave a brief description of the proposed building and its estimate.
B M Farookh, president of Bearys Welfare Association in his welcome address said that the association strives hard to foster peace and harmony among all sections of people and focuses on promotion of education among the community.
Former union minister Veerappa Moily, deputy chairman of Karnataka Planning Commission C M Ibrahim, forest, environment and ecology minister B Ramanath Rai, Bengaluru city development minister K J George, health and family welfare minister U T Khader, Mangaluru North MLA Mohiuddin Bava, Karnataka state Wakf board chairman Dr Mohammed Yusuf, past president of BWA T K Ummer among others were present.
