Saeed Jaffrey's demise big loss to film industry: MP CM

New Delhi, Nov 16 (IANS): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is saddened by the death of veteran actor Saeed Jaffrey, who passed away at the age of 86.

He says losing the star, who brought shine to showbiz with his craft through films likes "Gandhi" and "Shatranj Ke Khilari", is a big loss to the film industry.

“Sad demise of versatile actor Saeed Jaffrey is a big loss to film industry. For decades, he enthralled us with his class apart acting. #RIP,” Chouhan tweeted.

The news of the death of the Indian-born British actor surfaced on Facebook with a post by his close relative.

Known for roles in movies like "Henna" (1991), "Masoom" (1983) and "Ram Teri Ganga Maili" (1985), Saeed was married to co-actress and travel writer Mehrunima (Madhur Jaffrey), but they parted ways in 1965.

Together they have three daughters Meera, Zia and Sakina - who is also an actress.

Among many honours and awards, Saeed was conferred with the Order of the British Empire for his contributions to drama.
