Bengaluru, Nov 7: Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty and nine other ruling Congress party legislators were sworn in as parliamentary secretaries by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Saturday.
The parliamentary secretaries included nine MLAs, including coastal district’s Shakuntala Shetty, and an MLC.
Shakuntala Shetty, who first got elected on BJP ticket, and later joined the Congress party and got elected on the party ticket, is attached to the State Women’s and Child Welfare Department.
The State Government has also issued an official order and allocated parliament secretaries to different departments.
Parliamentary secretaries attached to different Ministries are: Makabul S Bagavan (Urban Development), Raju Alagur (Housing), Umesh G Jadhav (Health), Doddamani Ramakrishna Shidlingappa (Water Resources), ChennabasappaSatyappaShivalli (Social Welfare), Shakuntala Shetty (Women and Child Welfare), C Puttarangashetty (Rural Development and Panchayat Raj), H P Manjunatha (Industry), E Thukaram (PWD) (all MLAs) and K Govindaraj, MLC, attached to the Chief Minister.
The parliamentary secretaries would assist Ministers in the implementation of works and expedite works.
In the rush to congratulate newly appointed parliamentary secretaries, supported broke window panes of the Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha.
Parliamentary Secretaries are entitled to such salaries and allowances as are admissible to a Minister of State rank under the Karnataka Minister’s Salaries and Allowances Act of 1963.
