Kundapur, Nov 3: The gram panchayat office at Gopady near here wore a deserted look on Monday November 2, as all the furniture and computers of the office were found to have been shifted out of the office on the night of Sunday November 1.
It is gathered that all the items were taken out and shifted to Beejady gram panchayat. After the recent reorganization exercise, Beejady has been segregated from Gopady gram panchayat, and a separate Beejady gram panchayat has been carved out. While Gopady gram panchayat has its own building, Beejady gram panchayat plans to function from a private building for the present.
It is gathered that panchayat development officer of Beejady gram panchayat, without consulting gram panchayat president, chief executive officer of the zilla panchayat or taluk panchayat executive officer, shifted all the items from Gopady gram panchayat to Beejady gram panchayat by using a duplicate key he has with him. Four computers, six almirahs, five tables, and 40 chairs have been shifted, said president of Gopady gram panchayat, Saraswati G Putran, in a complaint made to taluk panchayat president and executive officer.
Taluk panchayat president, Bhaskar Billava, and executive officer, Narayanaswamy, visited the spot. Zilla panchayat chief executive officer has been approached with request to initiate disciplinary action against the erring panchayat development officer.
