Vasco, Nov 1 (TNN): Three youth were arrested for attacking a 27-year-old man, who was sitting alone at Baina beach on Thursday night.

At about 11pm, Uddesh Nandkumar Sawant of Zuarinagar had visited Baina beach. Noticing him sitting alone, the three youth, Salman Shaikh, 23, Nawaz Shaikh, 18, and Nizamuddin Shaikh, 20, all residents of Baina, approached him and started talking to him.

Then Sawant's ordeal started. They took off his shirt, forced him to dance, beat him up with bamboos, scratched nails over his body, and put a burning cigarette on his body. He was taken to another corner of the beach and his hands were tied. The trio took him to an ATM and withdrew 5,000 using one of his ATM cards. As he did not remember the password of the second card, the boys picked up a stone to kill him.

Sawant shouted for help. A police jeep patrolling nearby rescued him. The trio fled but were arrested by Vasco police on Friday. They were produced before Vasco JMFC on Saturday and taken into custody. Nizamuddin was released on bail.
