New Delhi, Oct 29 (IANS): The central government on Thursday commissioned a study to develop a protocol for testing new technologies for construction of houses.
"With the objective of promoting new housing technologies in the country, the ministry of housing and urban poverty alleviation has commissioned a study on testing of new construction technologies for popularizing them," an official statement said.
Currently, there is no standard and code of practice available in the country for the new technologies developed indigenously and also sourced from other countries for construction of houses, it added.
The ministry has approved financial assistance of Rs.31.34 lakh to the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, which would come out with a protocol for testing new construction technologies.
"The ministry's initiative comes in the context of implementation of 'housing for all mission' launched in June this year under which two crore new houses are to be built in urban areas for economically weaker sections and low income groups," the statement said.
