Tokyo, Oct 27 (IANS): Tokyo shares lost ground in early trading on Tuesday as investors opted to lock in gains made on Monday.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 48.43 points, or 0.26 percent, from Monday to 18,898.69, while the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange dropped 5.30 points, or 0.34 percent, at 1,553.69, reported Xinhua.
Decliners were led by iron and steel, mining and oil and coal products.
