Washington, Oct 26 (IANS/EFE): German Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg will start from the pole position on Sunday at the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, where the third round of qualifying was suspended due to torrential rains.
The starting positions of the first 10 cars in the Formula One event will be determined using the times from the second round of qualifying.
Rosberg posted a qualifying time of 1:56.824 at the Circuit of the Americas, edging his British teammate, Lewis Hamilton, who is in the top spot in the drivers' standings and could lock up his third title mathematically on Sunday.
The 30-year-old Hamilton will win the championship if he gets nine more points than German Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel and two more than Rosberg.
The German driver has now taken 19 pole positions in his Formula One career.
