Spain's David Ferrer wins Vienna ATP title

Vienna, Oct 26 (IANS/EFE): Spain's David Ferrer rallied to beat American Steve Johnson 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 in the final of the ATP Tour event in Vienna and still has a shot to qualify for the year-end tournament in London.

Johnson, who was playing his first career final, was two points away from beating the Spaniard on Sunday but Ferrer, a veteran of 50 finals, rallied in the 10th game of the third set and pulled out the win.

The Spaniard added the Vienna title, the 26th of his career, to his wins in Doha, Rio de Janeiro, Acapulco and Kuala Lumpur.

Ferrer is tied with Japan's Kei Nishikori at 3,945 points for the No. 7 spot in the Emirates ATP Race to London, with two spots still open.

France's Richard Gasquet is the only player who can catch up with Ferrer, but he will have to win the event in Basel and the Masters 1000 Paris-Bercy.
