Tokyo, Oct 26 (IANS): Tokyo shares opened remarkably higher on Monday with its benchmark Nikkei stock index recovering the 19,000 line on interest rate cut by the Chinese central bank.
At 9:15 a.m. (local time), the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 234.95 points, or 1.25 percent higher from Friday to 19,060.25, Xinhua reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 19.57 points, or 1.26 percent, to 1,567.41.
