Abu Dhabi, Oct 24 (IANS): Top amateur golfer Aman Raj lived up to expectations when he brought the lowest card of one-under 71 even as the Indian team slipped a position to be 10th after the second round of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Golf Team Championship, Nomura Cup at the Yas Links Golf Club here on Saturday.
Other players in the Indian contingent -- Samarth Dwivedi, Rahul Ravi and Harimohan Singh could not contribute much as three out of four best cards read as five-over 437 (218-219) -- 20 shots adrift the leading team Chinese Taipei on day two.
Overnight joint leader Japan dropped down to second spot after shooting 20-under 412 in the biennial tournament that has 27 countries participating.
In the individual category, Patna’s Raj, 19, who was the second best finisher at the Asia-Pacific amateur championship last year, tied for 10th spot along with Thailand’s Kammalas Namuangruk and South Korean Jae Kyung Lee at two-day total of three-under 141.
Bengaluru’s Samarth Dwivedi, 22, who was a part of the Indian contingent at the 2014 Asian Games, was the second best Indian as he shot six-over 78 for four-over 148 to finish tied 38th.
Bengaluru’s Rahul Ravi and Delhi’s Harimohan Singh were tied 67th at 11-over 155 after finishing 70th and 88th on Friday.
