New Delhi, Oct 23 (IANS): Rabi crops, or those sown in winter and harvested in spring, have been sown on a total area of 28.20 lakh hectares as on Friday against 17.36 lakh hectares during the corresponding time last year, official data showed.
Wheat, the main cereal crop in the country, was transplanted on 0.20 lakh hectares, pulses on 9.83 lakh hectares, coarse cereals on 16.57 lakh hectares and oilseeds were planted on 1.605 lakh hectares, according to the data released by the agriculture ministry.
