Kasaragod, Oct 23: 1050 children of 13 parishes belonging to Kasaragod deanery from 5th standard to II PUC participated in a whole day's colourful Kasaragod Kajulo Porob, a children's fiesta held at Bela Church campus on October 22.
The day's festival was sponsored by Raknno and Kajulo Konkani magazines and organized by Kasaragod Deanery YCS in collaboration with Bela Church.
The colourful festival was inaugurated by the deanery vicar Forane V Fr Vincent D’Souza by bursting a huge bunch of colourful balloons. He urged the children to be prayerful, creative, obedient to their parents/elders and to become responsible users of modern media.
Fr Marcel Saldanha, Fr Naveen D’Souza, Fr Santhosh Menezes, Fr Daniel D’Souza, Fr Aloysius Santiago SDB, Fr Stanislaus D’Souza SAC, Fr Anil Joel D’Souza, Fr Victor D’Souza, Bela Vice President M S Thomas, Bela parish secretary, Sr Frorine Dominican, Raknno manager John Furtado and others were present. Local coordinator of the festival Fr Denzil Lobo welcomed the gathering and YCS Kasaragod varado president Rohith Kishore D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. The inauguration was preceded by a colourful procession at the festival campus.
Ranson Crasta from Bejai inspired the children with acting and life messages. Roshan D'Souza Kayyar conducted the American Quiz with 3 groups. Ronald, Preetha, Shoba, Sr Helen, Sr Teena, Sr Mary, Sr Bindu and Sr Prescilla organized lively classwise entertaining games for the children. In the afternoon there was a special musical magic show by Kumari Thejaswini, a 10th standard girl from Paivalike-Kasaragod. The 13 parishes presented a special dance.
The participating parishes held a special competitive exhibition on the theme ‘Present children in the modern media’. While Nasik band from Kaliyur, student band of Bela St Mary’s School, a team of funny characters etc added colour to the festival nearly 50 animators, teachers and elders joined hands to organize the festival.
In the concluding ceremony Fr Valerian Fernandes, editor of sponsoring magazines was felicitated by the Vicar Forane. He invited the children to be more creative and thanked the Kasaragod Deanery YCS and Bela Church for organizing the festival. 100 prizes were distributed to the winners of the games, quiz and competitions. Romeo Rodrigues and Sr Reena UFS compered the day's festival. The Kasaragod deanery YCS director Fr Francis Rodrigues proposed the general vote of thanks.
