Madrid, Oct 20 (IANS): Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez said that his wish is to one day return to work at the Spanish football club.
The veteran midfielder, who left Barcelona in the summer after 17 years to play in Qatar, said that the job of first team coach at Barcelona is not an easy one, reports Xinhua.
"It is complicated to be the coach at Barcelona. I have seen Pep Guardiola, Frank Rijkaard, Louis van Gaal and Luis Enrique and the fact is that you suffer in the job. It is a position which leaves you open to criticism and it is not easy, but it is something that I want to do in football, it's my passion and something that I enjoy," said Xavi, who was clear about where he wanted to work when he hangs up his boots.
"My first objective is to try and work for Barcelona in the future. Although at the moment I have an excellent project in Qatar until the 2022 World Cup and I want to show the maximum to that."
The 35-year-old also spoke about Barcelona's current season, commenting that he thought the side was playing well despite suffering two defeats in their opening eight games of the season.
He described Lionel Messi as "the best player in the history of the game", saying it was "marvellous to be able to enjoy watching him every weekend".
Meanwhile, the Spanish Football League (LFP) has announced that the 'Clasico' between Real Madrid and Barcelona will be played on November 21.
