A.R. Rahman to meet Pele in Legends tour at Kolkata


Kolkata, Oct 8 (IANS): Brazilian football legend Pele will have Academy award winning Indian music composer A.R. Rahman for company on October 12, the organisers confirmed on Thursday.

The ‘Jai Ho’ artist who is creating music for Pele’s biopic 'Pele: Birth of a Legend', will fly down to the city to meet the 74-year-old and be a part of the Legends Night at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on October 12, where former India skipper Sourav Ganguly and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will also be present.

“Yes, A.R. Rahman is supposed to be in town and meet Pele. He will be here on 12th night,” Satadru Dutta, chief strategist of Multicon Group, who are one of the organisers, told IANS.

“He has shown keen interest in meeting Pele. He might discuss about the biopic. He is supposed to sing a happy birthday song for him too ahead of his birthday on October 23,” Dutta said.

Pele, three-time FIFA World Cup winner, is scheduled to arrive in the city on October 11, and will then attend Indian Super League (ISL) defending champions Atletico de Kolkata's home game against the Kerala Blasters where he will be the guest of honour two days later.
