Los Angeles, Oct 8 (IANS): Singer Selena Gomez has shared that she underwent chemotherapy after she was diagnosed with lupus two years ago, explaining why she was on a break at that point of time.
"I was diagnosed with lupus (a condition marked by inflammation of the skin), and I've been through chemotherapy. That's what my break was really about. I could've had a stroke," Billboard magazine quoted Gomez as saying, reports aceshowbiz.com.
Since the 23-year-old singer had to abruptly leave the Australian and Asian leg of her world tour in December 2013, there were rumours suggesting that she had checked into rehab for addiction.
"I'm so f***ing nice to everybody and everyone is so vile to me. I've been working since I was seven. I've been a Unicef ambassador since I was 17. It's so disappointing that I've become a tabloid story," Gomez said.
However, Gomez shared that she has taken everything negative in her stride which in turn has "motivated" her to pen her new studio album "Revival".
"The hate motivated me. This is my time. I've deserved this. I earned it. This is all me," she said.
