Abu Dhabi, Oct 6 (IANS): Three men accused of robbing an Indian-owned pharmacy in Dubai have denied the charges against them in Dubai Criminal Court, a media report said.
They were charged with an armed robbery of 3,150 Dirhams ($850) cash from the pharmacy's cash register and 11,000 Dirhams ($2,994) worth of controlled drugs, The National newspaper reported on Monday.
The accused used a rock to break the window of the pharmacy. They were arrested on the day of the incident, August 3, after a report was made to the police.
Police saw men throwing a rock at the window then shoving it with their shoulders three times until it smashed in security camera recordings.
The footage also showed the men leaving with a large quantity of controlled medication boxes.
"They confessed in front of me that they have used the rock to break the glass facade of the pharmacy then stole the drugs as well as cash," a policeman was quoted as saying.
The owner of the pharmacy told prosecutors that an employee informed him about the theft.
"When I went to the pharmacy I found police already there," the owner said.
