PSI Gaurish Malik booked for ‘shooting self’

Mapusa, Oct 6 (TOI): Police have booked police sub inspector (PSI) Gaurish Malik, who allegedly shot himself with his service revolver, for contravening the Arms Act and for attempting suicide. Malik attached to the Pernem police station allegedly shot himself with his service revolver in the chest in his car at Naibhag in Pernem on Sunday morning.

Police have booked Malik under Section 309 of the IPC and section 27 of the Arms Act (whoever uses any prohibited arms or prohibited ammunition or does any act in contravention of Section 7 and whoever uses any arms or ammunition in contravention of Section 5).

Police sources said that Malik's condition is improving and that he is now out of danger.

Sources said that the police could not investigate deeper into the matter as Malik has been hospitalized at the Goa medical college and hospitals at Bambolim and was earlier in a critical condition.

Police are investigating the reasons behind Malik talking such steps and also why he went to Naibhag instead of reporting to the Pernem police station.
