Panaji, Jul 19: All the 40 members of Goa legislative assembly today cast their votes for the Presidential poll.
Home minister Ravi Naik was the first one to cast his vote for the polls at Goa legislative assembly complex here.
Goa chief minister digamber Kamat voted at 1.45 p.m. while leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar exercised his franchisee at around one o’clock.
Both the members of parliament, Shantaram Naik and Shripad Naik, voted in Delhi. The South goa member of parliament seat is vacant following resignation of former congressman Churchill Alemao.
The state has 14 BJP, 16 Congress, three nationalist congress party, two Maharashtrawadi gomantak party (MGP), two Save Goa front, one United Goans democratic party (UGDP) and two independent legislators.
Except BJP legislators, rest all the political parties and an independent legislator Vishwajit Rane had expressed their support for UPA-left candidate. Anil Salgaoncar, another independent legislator, had refrained from divulging his stand in the election.
