Ex S Goa collector Agarwal booked under anti-graft law


Panaji, Oct 1 (TOI): The anti-corruption branch (ACB), directorate of vigilance department, has registered an offence against retired South Goa collector N D Agrawal and others under various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, for allegedly hatching a criminal conspiracy for recruitment of awal karkuns in the office of the collectorate, South Goa.

The ACB, in a press release issued, alleged that in a criminal conspiracy hatched by Agrawal along with the departmental selection committee, selected unqualified candidates for the post of Awal Karkun.

It is further alleged that Agrawal, the then collector of South Goa, framed rules with an ulterior motive to bring the recruitment under the control of the departmental selection committee. The order did not have concurrence of the department of personnel, neither was an amendment made in the order published in the official gazette. The selected candidates were appointed as Awal Karkuns in the year 2014.

ACB is conducting further investigation into the matter.
