Santiago, Sep 23 (IANS): Belgian port city of Ghent will host the 2015 Davis Cup final between Belgium and Britain from November 27 to 29.
The tie will be played on red clay at Flanders Expo, which is a multi-use indoor arena made up of eight halls. The Davis Cup final will take place in Hall 1 which has a capacity of 13,000.
"Ghent will fully support the Davis Cup final. As the third biggest city in Belgium, it has a lot of experience in hosting top international events, such as the Tour of Flanders, the arrival of the Tour de France in 2007, and the Gymnastics World Championships in 2001 and 2013," Tennis Vlaanderen, host of the event, president Dirk de Maeseneer said.
Belgium last reached the Davis Cup final in 1904 and have never won the competition while the British last played in the trophy decider in 1978 and won the last of their nine titles in 1936. Britain lead the head-to-head 7-4 but Belgium won their only recent encounter 4-1, back in 2012 in Glasgow.
Britain will once again be led by Andy Murray, who has featured in all but one of the nine rubbers that his side have won to reach the final, against the United States, France and Australia.
Top-20 star David Goffin will be the hosts' main hope to stop Murray from winning another three rubbers, but lost their only previous meeting last year at Wimbledon in straight sets.
