Los Angeles, Sep 21 (IANS): Maddox, the eldest son of actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, is keen to follow in the steps of his parents to become an actor.
Jolie has reportedly given Maddox, 14, his first speaking role in her upcoming online Netflix drama about the Khmer Rouge Regime in Cambodia, “First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers”.
"Maddox has been desperate to get into acting. This is a dream come true for him. He's read the book the film's based on and speaks the language - it's a perfect fit,”a source close to the actress and director told OK! Magazine.
The teenager, who was adopted by Jolie from an orphanage in western Cambodia in 2002, had a non-speaking role in the film featuring Pitt, “World War Z” (2013), which was an apocalyptic action horror film directed by Marc Forster.
Jolie had also hired her son to be an assistant on the set of the film.
“First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers” is based on a non-fiction book written by Loung Ung, a Cambodian author and survivor of the Pol Pot regime. It is a personal account of her experiences during the Khmer Rouge years.
