Moscow, Sep 18 (IANS): The dismissal of world football's governing body FIFA's secretary general Jerome Valcke does not affect the progress of preparations for the 2018 World Cup, to be hosted in Russia in 1,000 days, the country's sports minister said on Friday.
Vitaly Mutko, who is also the president of the Russian Football Union, said among the organising committee of the World Cup and FIFA there is a fluid system of interaction and there will be no problems, reports Efe.
FIFA announced on Thursday the "effective immediately until further notice" dismissal of Valcke, who occupied the general secretariat of the governing body of world football since 2007.
There are allegations of Valcke's involvement in the sale of tickets for the 2014 World Cup above the official price.
Mutko said the acting general secretary of FIFA, Markus Kattner, is aware of the whole project and that "all major decisions about the World Cup have been taken."
