Istanbul, Sep 16 (IANS): Turkish club Galatasaray lost 2-0 to visiting Atletico Madrid at Turk Telekom Arena in the opening match of Group C in Euro Champions League.
Atletico Madrid took the lead during Tuesday's match in 18th and 25th minutes of the first half with the scoring of French play maker Antoine Griezmann, Xinhua reported.
The Turkish club barely had chance to test the opponent goal keeper Jan Oblak in the first 45 minutes. Even though the home team did create some goal scoring opportunities in the second half, they did not grab any of them.
German forward Lukas Podolski played alongside Wesley Sneijder in support of lone striker Burak Yilmaz in attack for the Turkish club but he missed chance to score at the 66th minute by falling rather than shooting while facing the ball passing by teammate.
