Doha, Sep 15: In the inaugural match of the 27th C D C cricket tournament 2015, hosts C D C trounced Lovely Littles by 57 runs.
At the inaugural ceremony Sanjiv Jain, business development manager, of C D C was the chief guest along with the participating teams and QVCL officials.
Winning the toss Lovely Littles captain Gopal put in C D C to bat first. C D C openers Mahesh and Naidu gave a steady start and retired back after scoring 22 runs off 4 overs. First down batsman Jayawardhane (30 runs) started the fire works for C D C and took the team score to 73 runs in 8 overs. After Jayawardhane retired, C D C kept losing wickets and were 115 runs for 5 after 13 overs. Tharindu (36 runs) who came in at no 8 changed gears for C D C and took the total to 185 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
For Lovely Littles Shaji, Ravi, Usman, Dhaushka, Jai, Ali and Irfan took one wicket each.
In reply, Lovely Littles openers and the top order batsmen Rajesh (16 runs), Irfan (22 runs), Jay (15 runs), gave a brisk start and took the score to 42 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in five overs. Thereafter Lovely Littles kept losing wickets at regular intervals. At the end Ali (28 runs) tried to change gears for Lovely Littles. After Ali’s departure, Lovely Littles could manage only 128 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.
