Colors Infinity to air new show 'The Stage'

Mumbai, Sep 14 (IANS): In a bid to nurture English singing talent in India, English entertainment channel Colors Infinty is bringing a new show “The Stage”, which will give viewers a different take on the music scene in India.

Hosted by Shibani Dandekar, “The Stage” will feature musicians Vishal Dadlani, Monica Dogra, Ehsaan Noorani and Devraj Sanyal, managing director and CEO at Universal Music Group, South Asia, as the jury panel.

“Since the inception of the channel, we have aimed at nothing but disruptive content. After the new line-up and ‘Instant Premieres’, we now up the ante even further with the launch of our first home grown English language singing show, 'The Stage',” Ferzad Palia, executive vice president, Viacom18 and head, English Entertainment, said in a statement.

"We are immensely proud to introduce this concept on Indian television. There are numerous gifted English music artists in this country. Unfortunately they have never had the opportunity to showcase their talent, but now, with 'The Stage' we are providing them with the platform where they can finally do that," he added.

Talking about “The Stage”, filmmaker Karan Johar, co-curator of the channel, said he was "amazed" with the concept.

“When I first heard about ‘The Stage’ I was amazed at the introduction of such a novel concept for Indian television. I can see a paradigm shift in the reality TV shows in India,” he said.

Fellow co-curator and actress Alia Bhatt added: “English music is such an important part of our playlists but we don’t get to see it anywhere on our music platforms. So 'The Stage' is an idea whose time has come.”

“The Stage” will start on October 10.
