Bhopal, Sep 12 (IANS): Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who was to attend the closing ceremony of the 10th World Hindi Summit, will not be able to make it to the event on Saturday due to a dental problem.
Amitabh, 72, was invited as a chief guest for the closing ceremony of the event, but on Friday night, his trip to Bhopal had to be cancelled.
The organising committee's vice president Anil Madhav Dave confirmed the news to reporters here.
He said that the veteran actor has undergone a dental surgery, and so he would not be able to talk for three days. The megastar, son of legendary writer Harivansh Rai Bachchan, even expressed regret for his absence from the World Hindi Summit, said Dave.
While Big B did not directly address his dental hassle on social media, he gave a subtle hint of it when he tweeted on Saturday: "Leander Paes and Martina Hingis...congratulations on US Open victory...bit my painful tooth out during the tie break."
Experts on Hindi will be honoured during the concluding function, to be attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and to be presided by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
