Mangalore, Jul 2: 'Nadeda Hadhiya Hoovugalu,’ (Flowers by the Trodden Path) a book on Dr Sunita Shetty, a retired professor, well-known litterateur, a rare individual who has enriched Kannada culturally, literally, educationally since the past five decades, published by Sannidhi Publication, was released at Karnataka Sangh Auditorium recently.

The book was released by Dr Veena Poonaccha.  While congratulating at her platinum jubilee she said “The book contains compassionate articles.  It deserves to be commended since it gives description of a woman who has contributed significantly for Kannada literally, culturally, educationally.  It is the great book authored by a native of Karnataka settled in Mumbai, since it is written by a woman who have had the love for literature,” he added.

Mumbai University head of department of Kannada, Dr Thalthaje Vasant Kumar while presiding over the programme said that Dr Sunita Shetty thought of contributing for the city that has sustained her.  The publishing of book signifies the importance attached to the city besides she let the world know that, there are numerous of Kannada authors existing in outside the state.

Writer Yashwanth Chitthala, Billava Association president Jaya C Suvarna, Bunts' Association Mumbai vice-president Aikala Harish Shetty, Karnataka Malla daily editor Chandrashekar Paletthady, Udayavani daily sub-editor K N Shiva Kumar were the guest of honor and delivered the congratulatory speech.  

All the elders joined together honored Dr Sunita Shetty and Mahabala Shetty couple, by draping the shawl and presented them with flower bouquets, fruits, sarees and mementoes.

Dr Sunita Shetty while acknowledging the honor thanked all of them for their unconditional love, bestowed on her for all these years while living in Mumbai.

Susheela Devadiga led prayers.  Karnataka Sangh Mumbai president M M Kori deliveredwelcome speech.  Prof Sitaram R Shetty delivered the introductory remarks and journalist Daya Sagar Chowta introduced the book.
