Mumbai, Sep 7: Although the movie was said to not worth a laugh, apparently Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor and Paresh Rawal have managed to pull together laughs as well as applause, for their movie Welsome Back made close to Rs 50 crores over the weekend. Almost written off by many critics and avid movie goers soon after it was screened, their prediction that the movie would not go much further, has already been proven wrong both - nationally and internationally.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the business being raked in by the movie and said, "#WelcomeBack packs a SOLID punch. Fri 14.35 cr, Sat 17.05 cr, Sun 19.60 cr. Total: ₹ 51 cr. India biz. EXTRAORDINARY!" He also commented on the film's international performance, saying, "#WelcomeBack is EXCELLENT in international markets too. Collects $ 3.21 million [₹ 21.38 cr] in its opening weekend." While the movie did not shoot into the Rs 100 crore club like many other in recent times, it does seem to be headed that way - slowly, steadily and firmly.

A sequel to the hilarious movie Welcome which was the second highest grosser of 2007, the movie has John Abarham who is a notorious goon and the son of the infamous Dr Ghungroo (Paresh Rawal). Paresh Rawal played the role of Dr Ghungroo in Welcome as well where he was Akshay Kumar's uncle and very keen about only marrying his nephew to a girl from a respectable family. In Welcome Back 2 he has his son falling in love with Don Uday Shetty's sister Shruti Haasan.
