Margao, Jun 29: Demand of Karwar- Ankola Tipper Truck Association (KATTA) to induct them into the South Goa Sand Transport Association (SGSTA) has crippled the sand transport system from Tuesday June 26. This has affected the booming construction industry in Goa.
General secretary of SGSTA Prashant Naik told Daijiworld that KATTA is demanding to induct them in SGSTA which is just impossible as it has already got 415 members, in which 325 are Goans and 90 are from Karwar region. But some of them are deprived of getting trips (Business), as number of members is much more.
He alleged that KATTA members work for mining for 10 months and 2 months for sand transport. For not inducting them in the SGSTA, KATTA on Monday June 25 illegally stopped the Goan trucks which were going to Karwar to get sand.
He opined if they are inducted in the SGSTA, most of the members will be deprive of getting business, as they are already facing the problem.
Naik said that KATTA has claimed that SGSTA charges Rs 500 from Karwar-based truck owners.
He also said that they do not have any connection with KATTA, as they have an agreement with plot owners of Karwar and not with truck owners.
SGSTA would have dialogue with the sand plot owners of Karwar on Sunday July 1 to end the stalemate at Shrist hall Canacona.
Sand Transport would be not started till they find amicable solution on this aftermath.
