Mumbai, Sep 5: 'Welcome Back' which opened to scathing reviews of the movie being a half- baked illogical job, it seems has managed to hit the spot with the audiences and swiftly raked up Rs14.35 crores on its very first day. Any Body Can Dance had earned Rs 14.30 Crores on its very first day and WB now comes in as the third highest grosser of 2015 after Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Brothers.

Starring John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Nana Patekar, and Anil Kapoor, the movie has been predicted to gain momentum, from here onwards by Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh who tweeted, "#WelcomeBack has an EXCELLENT Day 1... Fri ₹ 14.35 cr. India biz... Biz should MULTIPLY further over the weekend. SUPER!" The movie tells the story of how a local goon John Abraham falls in love with Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor's sister Shruti Haasan but only ends up earning their irk as the brothers want a boy from a decent and respectable background for their sister.

Welcome had Katrina Kaif who was a sister to Anil and Nana and Akshay Kumar had fallen in love with her. Akshay's uncle Paresh Rawal however was a stickler for respectability had been against the love match as much as possible as he did not want his nephew married to a girl from a notorious family. John Abraham who plays a macho goon in this sequel turns out to be Paresh Rawal's own son. Welcome had been the second highest grosser of 2007 and it remains to be seen if this Aneez Bazmee directorial venture can achieve similar heights.
