Ajman, Sep 5: Ramanath Rai, the Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology of Karnataka state, accompanied by U T Ifthekar – senate member of Rajiv Gandhi University Karnataka, visited Mohiudeen Wood Works LLC, the largest sawmill in the GCC region.
Rai noted with a great sense of pride that the company which originally had its roots in Thumbay, Mangaluru is a leading force in the sawmill and timber industry of the Middle East and commended the managing director - B M Ashraf and employees of Mohiudeen Wood on their efforts. During his visit Rai took time to interact with employees of Mohiudeen Wood, most of whom hail from Mangaluru and nearby districts.
Mohiudeen Wood Works LLC is the oldest and largest saw mill in the Middle East and is a part of the B A Thumbay Group. Since the time it was founded in 1993, Mohiudeen Wood has rapidly evolved to become an industry leader and is today recognized as the key supplier of timber to the region’s biggest oil and gas conglomerates, landmark government infrastructure projects, ship builders and historic restoration projects. Mohiudeen Wood is also the largest importer of round logs in the GCC, which are then processed into various special sizes of timber at their sawmills in Ajman and Sharjah.
