Turin, Sep 3 (IANS): Italian football champions Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta is confident his club has what it takes to keep pushing for major honours for many years to come.
Marotta on Wednesday said that once the newcomers fully adapt to their new environment, the team can only go from strength to strength.
"We’re extremely happy with our work in the transfer market and have achieved all of our targets, building what we consider to be a winning squad in the process," he said in a statement.
“We’ve lost the likes of (Andrea) Pirlo, (Carlos) Tevez and (Arturo) Vidal and replacing them isn’t easy. Directors, managers and players come and go, but clubs, victories and their successes to come remain," he added.
Forward Mario Mandzukic and midfielders Hernanes, Sami Khedira and Paulo Dybala are the big signings for Juventus in the summer.
Marotta felt that the combination of youth and experience, along with the versatility of various squad members, gives head coach Massimiliano Allegri plenty of options from a tactical perspective.
"We’ve worked with the intention of creating a blend of youth and experience within the squad. This group is very flexible and gives Allegri various options from a tactical perspective. It’s perhaps the first time Juventus has had this kind of squad.
"What we do need to work on is instilling the winning mentality into this new group, because we are Juventus and it’s our duty to win both in the present day and in the future."
