Rio De Janeiro, Aug 30 (IANS): Real Madrid's Marcelo has been recalled to Brazil's squad for friendlies against Costa Rica and the USA, the country's football federation (CBF) said on Sunday.
The 27-year-old replaces injured Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis in coach Dunga's 24-man squad, the CBF said in a statement, Xinhua news agency reported.
Filipe is the fourth player to be cut from the squad due to injury. Daniel Alves, Oscar and Ramires have already been replaced by AS Monaco right-back Fabinho, Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho and Barcelona midfielder Rafinha.
Brazil will meet Costa Rica in New Jersey on September 5 and the USA in Foxborough, Massachusetts, three days later.
The fixtures will be the Selecao's first outings since their Copa America quarterfinal defeat to Paraguay on penalties in June.
